Science has traced physical gender differentiation of the human being all the way back to the first few days of gestation in the womb. Complete gender difference, however, doesn't appear until the early stages of youth give way to puberty. In many religions and philosophies of the world, the spirits which inhabit newborn children are drawn from a universe of variously aged souls who inhabit an unknown dimension and carry gender specificity only during their incarnations on earth. This lack of gender differentiation is evident in the physical appearance of newborn children who get their first taste of sexual identity by being adorned with either a pink or blue layette.
